My 2022 Global Adventure: Day 11 (Belgium! Old Timey Stuff! Pasta In A Box!)

On Friday morning we hopped aboard a train that took us out of Paris and into Belgium. I spotted this at the Paris train station:

Okay, so it's a faux Amelie, but I was still amused.

By early afternoon, we were in Ghent...

^NBD, just a 15th century cannon!

Originally, when we first decided to go to Belgium, our plan was to spend 2 nights in Brussels and 2 nights in Bruges, but eventually we decided to stay 3 nights in Ghent instead... and take a day trip to Bruges. This plan worked out well, I thought.

We stayed at the Hotel Erasmus, which, according to Google, was built in the 1500s.

It was rustic, but charming.

We got settled in our room, then went out to explore the city...

Ghent is a very walkable town, but it also has public transportation in the form of several trolley lines.

We got dinner at this place that lets you pick your own pasta ingredients and they cook it for you right there...

They also served frozen yogurt at that place... as you do.

We didn't get any yogurt, but we both got our own pasta, and it was delicious!
