I recently got the Sims 4, and after messing around with it a bit, I decided to try my hand at the 100 Baby Challenge. This challenge was first brought to my attention via the series of videos by Kelsey Impicciche on YouTube. Over the past year and a half, Kelsey has managed to create sixty-odd babies in her game. I wondered... how far could I get?
There are many rules involved in this challenge. No cheats. You can only have 8 people living in your house at once. Every pregnancy has to be with a different Sim dad. You can't age toddler/kid/teen Sims until they've reached specific milestones. And... once your sim becomes an elder, a new matriarch (her youngest daughter) must take over the challenge.
Personally, I'm not used to playing the Sims without using the money cheat. I might have done that with the first Sims game, way back in 2000, but ever since? No way!
This new restriction meant I had to start the game with a pretty meager dwelling...

Adelaide wastes no time getting started on her noble quest. A male sim is walking by her house! Adelaide speaks to him, flirts with him, and invites him in. It turns out he's a pizza delivery guy by the name of Rohan Lipscomb. It takes three tries before Adelaide gets a positive test result.
It's a boy! Adelaide has to move the bed over to make room for the crib. She names the baby Emmett. Emmett Embody. (For those wondering, I used the random name generator in the game, clicking 1-10 times until I found something that sounded good with "Embody.")
Adelaide herself is a playful sim, which means she gets to play with a bunch of the kiddie toys.
The mail carrier comes by to deliver bills, and Adelaide is ready. She immediately notices Pace Travis's good looks, and invites him inside. She doesn't even mind that he brings her bills.
Hello.
Here comes baby #2...
It's another boy! Welcome to the world, August Embody!
Here is August making the oh-so-natural-looking leap from infant to toddler...
D'aw, what a cutie.
Adelaide's next conquest is a man named Cannon Foust. Together, they produce a red-headed child named Emma. In typical third-child-parenting fashion, Adelaide neglects to take baby pictures.
Next up, Adelaide charms Andre, one of her neighbors...
Her house may be messy, but Adelaide has one thing on her mind and one thing only... getting this baby out so she can start on the next one!
Adelaide welcomes baby #4, Norman!
Meanwhile, the older boys take to fishing in a local pond. The fish can be sold. Adelaide writes and publishes stories. Even with this income, the family is barely scraping by.
Ah, but at least the house is full of kids and love....
Below, Emmett, Norman, August, and Emma hang out...
Ah, a rare pic of Emma! This girl knows how to dress!
When a teenage sim becomes an "A" student, they can be aged into adulthood. Here, Emmett blows out his candles and becomes a man.
Every adult Sim has traits, both earned and randomized. Emmett is erratic, a cat lover, creative, and a quick learner.
Norman ages from toddler to kid...
Adelaide begins to realize that single men are quite scarce in her neighborhood. She flirts with at least 4 passersby who, when asked, declare they are already married. Rats.
She finally meets Giancarlo Foust, learns he's single, ignores his awful hair, and decides to go for it...
Baby #5 is named Alysia.
Around this time, eight single men moved into the neighborhood. (Perhaps they had a little help... thanks, Sims Gallery!)
The first to catch Adelaide's eye was Rafael McGhie.
The first to catch Adelaide's eye was Rafael McGhie.
Together, they had a baby named Clarissa...
Below, Alysia plays with blocks while Emma plays computer games...
Alysia, rocking blue hair, admires her youngest sibling, baby Clarissa...
Around this time, August ages up and out...
August is a slob (apparently?), a perfectionist, an art lover, and a collector.
Clarissa ages from baby to toddler in a single bound...
Norman, now a teen, is just like "whatever."
The house is routinely getting renovated. Adelaide added a second bathroom, because people kept walking in on each other. She also built a wall between her bedroom and the kids'.
Emma gets ready to age into adulthood...
Emma's traits include ambitious, evil, a perfectionist, and business savvy.
At some point, Adelaide hooks up with a sim named Kaz Brekker...
and they produce baby #7, Clementine...
Clementine turns out to be the third redheaded baby (after Emma and Norman). Adelaide's genes are strong!
Soon it's Norman's turn to go out in the world...
Norman is athletic, geeky, and a goofball.
Above, Clementine plays with blocks while Adelaide fixes the toilet. Below, Clarissa stands by as big sister Alysia becomes a teen.
Some more renovations happen as Adelaide separates the toddler bed from the kids' beds. The toddlers seem to sleep much sounder, now.
Adelaide's writing is finally bring in some money, and she is able to afford some amusements for her kids, including a drawing table, a slide, and a chess board.
Adelaide reads Clementine to sleep....
Baby daddy Kaz comes by to play with Clementine. Awww.
Adelaide mingles with a sim named Trey Noble, and... it's another girl! Anabelle...
All is calm until Alysia tries to cook a family meal, and...
Adelaide comes to the rescue with a fire extinguisher...
But Clarissa is not amused...
Below, Alysia, looking guilty, rescues Clementine, and the three older girls run out of the house.
Baby Anabelle is fine, though, apparently? Oh but look at that poor kitchen!
A bright spot in all this is that Adelaide decides to finally spring for a higher-end oven. She also insists that Alysia take some cooking lessons before she gets to go near the kitchen again....
Despite that traumatic fire in her childhood, Clarissa ages up into a well-adjusted teen....
And, before long, Clementine ages into a child...
After which Alysia becomes an adult!
Alysia is a genius, good, and a quick learner. (Okay, but about that fire....)
Hanging out next to the trash can, Adelaide gets to know a new guy, Albert Driver...
And by "get to know"... well, you know.
Anabelle becomes a toddler...
Below, Emma comes by for a visit as former baby daddy Giancarlo sneaks on by in the background. Yeah, you just keep on walkin....
The older girls take up the family tradition of fishing....
Adelaide plays outside with Anabelle....
The family has finally accrued over $5,000 simoleons, which means it's time for a home renovation!
Before...
After...
Ah, so much bigger! Nicer windows, new kitchen tile, and... best of all... goodbye to the brown wall paneling!
Anabelle's digging it...
Clarissa's feeling inspired...
Wait a second....
Oh no, Clarissa! Did not you learn anything from your sister's mistakes?
Way to go. Now it's off to cooking school for you, too...
Albert Driver and Adelaide produce a boy! Adelaide names him Bradford.
Around this time, the family decides to get a dog. There are only four children living at home -- Clarissa, Clementine, Anabelle, and Bradford. There is room in the house and in everybody's hearts. They adopt an adult Golden Retriever named Bella.
Anabelle gets to know her new canine friend...
Clarissa takes her on a jog...
Bradford, now a toddler, is a cutie!
Clementine makes a wish before morphing into a teen...
Clarissa chats with Anabelle as Bradford looks on....
Bradford hones his block-stacking skills....
As Bradford ages into kidhood, there are no toddlers or babies in the house at all. Luckily, Adelaide is pregnant. Thanks Spencer Chricton!
Clarissa ages up and leaves the nest...
Clarissa is a dog lover, loves the outdoors, and is materialistic.
Adelaide visits the yard o' men to see if there are any guys left to... you know... for later....
Bradford, Clementine, and Anabelle are uninterested as Adelaide goes into labor in the background...
It's a girl! Baby #10 is named Candice!
Adelaide's journey is nowhere near complete, but babies #7-10 all do grow into adulthood successfully....
Clementine becomes a friend to animals, a music lover, a slob, and a snob....
Anabelle, too, is a friend to animals. In addition, she's creative, a glutton, and jealous!
Bradford enters adulthood as a computer whiz, a goofball, a foodie, and a cat lover...
And what about Candice...?
Candice yearns for the perfect soulmate. She's active, creative, and hates children.
So. Ten down, ninety to go. If Adelaide becomes an elder, the matriarchal torch will be passed on to the last female baby she had. Who will she be? And how long will it be before she takes over the family legacy?
Find out... next time?
